Who Built CryptoBacktest

Jay is a licensed pharmacist and senior researcher at a pharmaceutical company, specializing in drug development and clinical research. By day, he analyzes clinical data using rigorous statistical methods — a discipline that demands precision, reproducibility, and data-driven thinking.

Jay discovered Bitcoin several years ago. Like many new investors, he encountered a flood of trading strategies online — RSI crossovers, MACD signals, Bollinger Band breakouts — all presented with compelling charts and promising backtests. But when he tried to verify them independently, he found the tools either cost money, required coding expertise, or simply couldn't be trusted.

As a researcher trained to demand reproducibility, he built CryptoBacktest: a free, transparent backtesting platform that lets anyone validate a Bitcoin strategy against real historical data — without paying for software, without installing anything, and without trusting anyone else's numbers.

Why CryptoBacktest Was Built

Bitcoin trading strategy advice is everywhere on the internet — blogs, YouTube channels, social media, forums. Most of it sounds reasonable. Almost none of it comes with honest, independently verifiable backtesting.

Jay's frustration was simple: strategies that sounded good on paper couldn't be validated. Either the tools to test them were expensive, the backtests were cherry-picked, or the methodology was opaque.
